Artist & Nomad Travel Philosophy

We have come alongside global partners for 25 years and has witnessed firsthand the impact a traveler's mindset, choices, and purchases can have on their destinations. We ask that you do your best to align with this philosophy of travel based on our respect and hope for the people and communities we are visiting.

Come with a learning spirit:

Be curious! Let this tour/retreat be a chance to listen, grow, serve when we can, and return home inspired to live more thoughtfully and intentionally.

Be flexible:

Due to the nature of tours/retreats, we may need to change our schedule or activities.

Appreciate, don’t appropriate.

Learn about cultural and religious customs before you arrive, as well as a few words in the local language. Please respect and understand the cultural and religious nuances that make travel an adventure. Avoid any activity that treats people as a tourist attraction.

Respect people and the place you are visiting.

Don't do anything that might endanger or exploit the residents, whether people or wildlife. Please don’t photograph people without permission, especially children.

If you’re welcomed by artisans or local hosts, feel free to share what inspires you on social media. Tag ARTIST & NOMAD and our local partners as a way to honor them and inspire others to explore social impact travel.

Buy locally and responsibly, barter graciously.

Your presence makes an impact. You will have opportunities to directly support artisans and local businesses that are socially minded about their impact.

Be intentional and present.

Use your downtime to rest, reflect, pray, and be fully present to what you are experiencing and learning. Do your best to unplug from home and soak in the beauty around you. We hope you leave inspired in your faith, renewed in spirit, and will continue practicing living with love and intentionality.

WE LOOK FORWARD TO TRAVELING WITH YOU!
